My Movie Poster Collection: The Rarest of the Rare

Finally, we arrive at the final entry in my 29-part series covering my movie poster collection. It's a project that's taken 6 months to complete, and now I must move on to other subjects. But I'm extremely glad to have finished this project. There are a LOT of unusual things to see here, and I have to thank, again, the estimable Tim O'Donnell for taking photographs of these extremely rare

My Movie Poster Collection: Odds and Ends

These are the odd-sized posters in my collection. None of them conform to the American standard of 27 X 41 inches (or 40 inches, post 80s). They are all either half-sheets (22 X 28 inches), inserts (11 X 17 inches), TV-related posters, or odd-sized indie or foreign posters. I haven't measured each piece, as of this posting, but will do so soon. As far as I can tell, this is the first

My Movie Poster Collection: The Autographed Ones

I've never been one for autographs, UNLESS said autographs rest upon a movie poster, in which case I'm freakin' in! This is my small collection of signed posters, accompanied by my comments. Many thanks go out to estimable Tim O'Donnell for taking the photos!

2001: A Space Odyssey (Stanley Kubrick, 68); signed by Keir Dullea.

My Movie Poster Collection: A

As always, click on the poster you like to see a larger image: THE ABDUCTORS (Don Schain, 72). Folded, GI don't have posters for The Godfather and The Godfather Part II, but I do have one-sheets for both Ginger and its sequel The Abductors. So that shows you where my priorities are. THE ABYSS (James Cameron, 89). Rolled, GGodawful, boring poster for perhaps James Cameron's best movie. With

As always, click on each image to see them larger: B MONKEY (Michael Radford, 98). Rolled, G I've never even seen this movie, but I sure do love me some Asia Argento. This is the best American poster featuring her magnificent visage. BABY LOVE (Alastair Reid, 68). Folded, GSure would! Why not? Especially if she wears that little skirt all the time. BAD COMPANY (Robert Benton, 72). Folded,

As always, click on the poster for a larger image: THE CANDIDATE (Michael Richie, 72). Folded, FTerrific image, with political newcomer Robert Redford having his face obscured by bubble gum. Still one of the most intelligent movies about politics around (perhaps even more relevant today), with an Oscar-winning script by Jeremy Larner. I love this poster, too, for its lack of a tagline, though

My Movie Poster Collection: D

DAD, CAN I BORROW THE CAR? (Ward Kimball, 70). Folded, VGI couldn't believe my freakin' luck in finding this one. I had waited years to even SEE this movie again (you can see it here). I'd caught this SHORT film (this is my only one-sheet for a short) on the Wonderful World of Disney back in the mid 1970s, and had always been fascinated by it; it's so incredibly odd. So's the fact that this

I gotta give it up for Will Pfiefer and his film column for the Rockford Register Star. Not only is the man supremely knowledgeable, he's been trolling the net deeply enough to stumble upon and later compose kind words about My Movie Poster Collection. Thanks, Will, and all readers! And, as always, click on the image you wanna see larger.E.T. THE EXTRATERRESTRIAL (Steven Spielberg, 82).

Remember that you can always click on the images themselves to see them (hopefully) larger:FANNY AND ALEXANDER (Ingmar Bergman, 83). Folded, GAn august one-sheet for Ingmar Bergman's finest work. Its simplicity and subtle coloring wisely doesn't match but also goes perfectly with much of the film. It's a stunning poster with elegant lettering, too. Meanwhile, the movie itself is
